Ted Moody is President of J&M Asset Management, Ltd. Ted has over twenty years of corporate finance, valuation and corporate development experience at investment banks and Fortune 500 companies.
Ted was a Director in the Corporate Finance group of KPMG from 2001 to 2011. KPMG is the fourth largest accounting firm and the leading provider of middle market merger and acquisition services worldwide. During his time at KPMG, he worked on various assignments including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, valuations, fairness opinions, and strategic assessments. He has done work on cross-border transactions as well as for troubled companies.
Prior to joining KPMG, Ted founded Moody & Associates, Inc., which provided acquisition advisory services to public and private companies that were active consolidators of companies in the business services space. He led more than ten buy-side advisory assignments while at Moody & Associates.
Before forming Moody & Associates, Ted worked in the corporate development group of Republic Industries (now Republic Services Group [NYSE:RSG] and AutoNation [NYSE:AN]). While at Republic, he was part of a team that completed several hundred acquisitions of waste services, home security, automotive dealership, and outdoor advertising companies. Prior to Republic, he held several positions in the corporate development group of Ryder System, Inc. [NYSE:R], a leading transportation, logistics, and supply chain management solutions provider. Prior to Ryder, he was a consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture [NYSE:ACN]).
Ted has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance with Honors from University of Illinois at Champaign. He is an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth. Ted has passed the Business Valuation 201 through 204 courses and is in the midst of completing the remaining requirements to receive the ASA designation.
Lucy Goss Korf is a Consultant with J&M Asset Management, Ltd. For over five years Lucy has provided to J&M, valuation services of closely held corporations, partnerships and other limited market assets for a variety of purposes.
Lucy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. She also earned a Masters of Management degree with a concentration in Finance at the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Lucy earned a Certified Public Accountant designation in 1985, the Certified Financial Planner designation in 1989, and the ASA Accredited Appraiser designation in 1992.
Lucy worked as a Tax Consultant at Arthur Andersen & Company from 1985 to 1987. Her responsibilities included identifying and resolving complex tax issues, preparing responses to IRS Revenue Agent Reviews, developing sophisticated financial models, and supervising other tax consultants.
Lucy worked at the Northern Trust Company in Chicago, Illinois from 1987 to 1996 as an Asset Manager and Team Leader in the Family Business Division. Her responsibilities included the management of limited market assets held in fiduciary accounts as well as performing valuations of closely-held interests.
From 1996 to 2011, Lucy started and managed a closely held business. Lucy built the business from inception to a successful regional business. She was responsible for all aspects of business operations including marketing, finance, human relations and production. Lucy returned to the field of business valuation services in 2011 after a successful sale of the company.
Michele Carey has more than 30 years of experience in the valuation of closely held assets and trust administration. Michele has worked with J&M since 2011, providing reviews of closely held companies and partnerships for compliance analysis purposes. Michele’s responsibilities include analyzing financial and tax statements and researching industry, economic, and comparative financial information as necessary. Michele works proactively to gain the necessary financial statements and other documentation to assure our reports meet client needs.
Prior to J&M, Michele was a Trust Administrator with Foley Hoag, LLP for six years. Her responsibilities included drafting, preparing, and reviewing estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, health care proxies, durable powers of attorney, living wills, realty trusts, and deeds. Michele also prepared estate plan summaries for client meetings and assisted with estate settlement. She also conducted legal, account history, estate, and tax research.
Prior to Foley Hoag, Michele was with BankBoston for sixteen years, most recently as a Business Analyst in BankBoston’s Personal Trust Department. Michele conducted valuation studies for estate and gift tax purposes for internal and external clients. While at BankBoston, she also monitored and reviewed financial performance of closely held companies and partnerships held in trusts and estates. She also analyzed financial statements, attended stockholder meetings, and worked with company managers and personnel.
Michele has Bachelor of Science while also completing Graduate Paralegal Courses from Boston State College. Michele also completed Graduate Accounting Courses at Harvard University Extension School.

John R. O’Gorman co-founded J&M Asset Management, Ltd. in 1996 and successfully grew J&M into being recognized as one of the premier providers of valuation services to bank trust departments and other fiduciaries in support of their management of limited partnerships and closely held businesses.
Before forming J&M Asset Management, John served as a financial analyst in Northern Trust Company’s Family Business Division. In that capacity, he was responsible for the overall management of limited partnership and corporate interests held in estates and trusts. John was also a long-standing and valued member of the National Trust Closely Held Business Association.
